Thank you to everyone who donated shoes for the Wellness Department's annual shoe drive! This is our second year collecting for Soles4Souls. When I was researching drop off locations I came across a local woman by the name of Taylor White. Happy to have secured a donation location that wasn't too far away, I scheduled the drive went on with my day.
This past Monday when I drove to Millis HS to drop off our shoes, I was surprised to learn that the Taylor White I had been communicating with all along was actually a high school senior collecting shoes for her senior project! How awesome is that?!
Here is the story that was written up about her in their school newspaper:
It is a busy time of year for many, but most of all for high school seniors. At Millis High School, one senior project that has really stood out is that of Taylor White, who is running a shoe drive for Soles4Souls. Soles4Souls is a non-profit enterprise organization that distributes shoes to those in need. Taylor White is the warehouse manager for Massachusetts, meaning she is responsible for sorting shoes coming from all over New England and trying to get others involved in the cause. When asked about what inspired her to choose this as her senior project, she said that it was her being a runner. Taylor continued by saying “...It’s definitely something we take for granted” as well as saying that she wanted to “bring awareness to the community about the power of a pair of shoes and how lucky we are”. Taylor collected around 17,000 pairs upon completion of her drive. Thank you to all those who helped and supported her in her effort to “Wear Out Poverty”!
Thanks to Taylor and to all of you for helping us collect shoes for those in need!
