The nutrition curriculum in 7th grade is based on these principles:

  1. Eat food as it is found in nature with minimal processing. The fewer ingredients the better.
  2. Eat foods that will give you the most bang for your nutritional buck. Nutrient dense foods give you the most nutrients for the fewest amount of calories; the opposite of empty calories. Eat these whenever possible. 
  3. If you can't pronounce it, don't eat it. 
  4. Protein, natural fat, & quality carbohydrate (vegetables & fruit) should make an appearance at all meals.
